Shipping & Returns

Shipping

Akari light sculptures are shipped within the US via UPS Ground. Akari shipping to Canada or Mexico may be delivered via Canada Post, DHL, or FedEx. See our FAQ page for international distributors. We do not ship to third-party freight forwarding or proxy companies. Akari orders ship in one to two weeks. See the banner on our website for most up-to-date shipping times.

Orders are currently unavailable for pick-up. If you live within the five boroughs of NYC and would like your order sent via messenger, please contact us. 

Furniture is made to order and drop-ships within the US directly from the manufacturer in 6 to 8 weeks of order placement. 

Publications, prints, and gift items can ship internationally. Contact us at akari@noguchi.org if you would like to make an international order of these items. 

Orders going to Canada or Mexico may incur additional border fees to the postage that we charge. We do not cover customs or duty. If you calculate an estimate of these fees, please take into account that Akari are made in Japan. If you have a preference of carrier, email us at akari@noguchi.org to let us know.

 

Delivery

Please follow the status of your package once tracking information is sent to you. If you are not available at the time of the delivery attempts and your package is returned to us, we will cancel and refund your order, less the amount of shipping.

We do not have control over how many delivery attempts UPS will make, or whether or not they opt to deliver your package to a UPS Access Point after a failed delivery attempt. You may sign up for a free UPS My Choice account to have more control over your delivery.

We are not liable for packages lost or stolen after delivery for orders placed without selecting the Signature Confirmation shipping option. 

 

Damaged Packages

If your order arrives damaged, please contact us at akari@noguchi.org as soon as possible and do not throw away any packaging or assemble the product. In order to process a claim, we will need photographs of the following:

Damaged merchandise inside the box displayed as it arrived to you.
Packaging material used (bubble wrap, paper, etc.)
Damaged item outside of the box.
A close-up of the shipping label with tracking number.
If available, a close-up of the box manufacturer's certificate (BMC).
1 photo displaying the top and 2 sides.
1 photo displaying the bottom and the opposite sides.

Please note that we are not able to exchange or refund Akari light sculptures that have been damaged during assembly. 

 

Returns

We accept returns of Akari light sculptures, prints, and publications purchased online within 30 days of delivery.

Items purchased at the Museum Shop or purchased in-store within 14 days.

All returns must be in unused, undamaged condition and must include all parts and original packaging. Returns that do not meet these requirements, including damage to, or omission of the Akari product box, are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Shipping costs are non-refundable and return shipment costs are the responsibility of the customer. Packages should be re-packed carefully and returned via a trackable, fully insured carrier. 

Before sending a return, contact us at akari@noguchi.org for more detailed instructions and so that we know to expect a package from you.

All furniture and limited edition sales are final.
