Akari 32N

Designed c. 1968
The Akari 32N is among the wave of new Akari light sculptures that Isamu Noguchi designed in the 1960s. It features mulberry bark washi paper, with a unique formation of irregular bamboo ribbing (higo) which transitions from more tightly-spaced at its ends to more widely-spaced at its center. Its form resembles that of a long, wide cylinder with rounded ends.
