The Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum Catalogue
Isamu Noguchi’s essential 1987 catalogue to his Museum in Long Island City, New York, is available in a new 40th anniversary edition. In lieu of traditional didactics, Noguchi offers poetic reflections on the core collection of sculptures and public projects that he selected for his garden museum—a total environment to experience his life’s work.
For this extraordinary book, Noguchi worked closely with graphic designer Tomoko Miho, editor Joanne Greenspun, and photographer Shigeo Anzai. A paperback and hardcover edition were originally printed, but only the paperback was subsequently reprinted in 1999. This new edition is a faithfully reconstructed facsimile with scans from the Museum’s archives, and reintroduces the hardcover format for the first time since its initial publication.
