Noguchi Freeform Ottoman

The Freeform Sofa and Ottoman were among a suite of works Noguchi designed with Herman Miller during a prolific period with the company in the mid/late 1940s. The construction, featuring a solid beechwood frame encompassed by upholstered foam and six maple or walnut legs, is unique among Noguchi’s produced works, with its curves and slopes resembling “rocks that roll around.” The Sofa, produced briefly by Herman Miller beginning in 1950, was re-introduced by Vitra in 2002.
